About Us

Steve Murphy

Steve Murphy has spent much of his life in uniform, starting with four years in the Navy as a GMM, where he earned the Navy Expeditionary Medal and Navy Unit Commendation. Afterwards he did a stint in the Army National Guard. As if that wasn’t enough, Steve then spent 23 years as a police officer, working 9 of those years as a SWAT sniper.

So naturally, he writes science-fiction, fantasy, and space opera. This is his second novel, with three more in the works with Paul. In addition to writing, Steve has also worked as a consultant and set decorator for the film industry.

Steve is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys camping, backpacking, whitewater, skiing, sailing and motorcycle riding. He has also been accused of enjoying good bourbon, wine, and cigars, all of which he will bypass for a decent cup of coffee.

The father of two boys—now grown men—Steve lives on a 12-acre farm somewhere in North Carolina with his wife, two dogs, and an elusive cat.

Paul Barrett

Paul has had multiple careers, including rock and roll roadie, theater stage manager, television camera operator, mortgage banker, and support specialist for Microsoft Excel.

This eclectic mix allowed him to go into his true love: motion picture production. He has produced two feature films (Night Feeders, Cold Storage) and two documentaries. When not producing films, he works on them in various capacities, including script supervisor, assistant props, or set lighting.

Amidst all this, Paul has written and produced numerous commercial and industrial video scripts in his tenure with his former creative agency, Indievision.

Paul is an avid board gamer, miniatures painter, movie enthusiast, and all-around nerd. He lives in North Carolina with his film director/graphic designer husband, where they work as servants to four indoor cats: Buster, Yin, Patches, and Samwise. They also care for a feral cat they have dubbed Tab. Learn more about Paul's cats.
